Getting the skills for Manufacturing Industry
The Manufacturing industry remains an important pillar of growth for the Singapore economy. Recent years have seen increasing reshaping of the manufacturing landscape. Workers hence need to adapt to and be equipped with portable skills sets to meet the requirements of growth sectors that are heavily influenced by economic demands. The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) is working with the industry to build up a pool of competent workers who are ready for the manufacturing industry.
The Generic Manufacturing Skills Workforce Skills Qualifications System (Generic Manufacturing Skills WSQ), is a national skills training system that is developed jointly by the Manufacturing industry and the WDA. It maps out the essential cross-cutting generic skills needed by the Manufacturing Industry at the Operations, Supervisory and Managerial levels and identifies the relevant training required by workers at these levels. It also sets national skills standards across manufacturing industries.
