Today, the Floristry industry in Singapore is made up of over 800 floral establishments and 3000 workers. Forecasted to grow at 5.5% annually and worth about S$245 million in 2014, the future presents even more opportunities for both the industry players and workers. There are many new developments such as the Integrated Resorts, upcoming commercial as well as residential projects such as the Gardens by the Bay. These developments are expected to bring about demand for skilled workers in the Floristry Industry. Floristry employers should channel ample efforts and resources to attract skilled workers or upgrade existing workers’ skills to remain competitive.

Leveraging on the resources, expertise and experience of industry leaders, government agencies, representatives from industry associations and training providers, the Floristry Workforce Skills Qualifications was developed to identify the relevant competencies needed for workers in the Floristry industry to perform their jobs effectively.
