The Workplace Literacy (WPL) and Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Series
These modules are offered at different levels. There are 3 levels for Workplace Literacy (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced) and 2 levels for Workplace Numeracy (Intermediate and Advanced). There is an initial assessment of English literacy and numeracy abilities before the participant is placed into the most suitable level of training programme. The WPL series encompasses the four domains of literacy - Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Currently, assessments for the WPL series focus on Reading and Listening and are conducted using a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT). Participants with little or no computer knowledge are not disadvantaged during assessment as the system is designed to be fairly simple. It requires point and click on appropriate answers to a series of multiple choice questions using a mouse. For more information on the training modules, please click here for the ESS Employers' Guide. Interested parties may also find out more about the ESS from WDA-approved training providers.
