Overview

The Centre for Employability Skills (CES)

CES is established to provide assessment services to support the training and assessment programmes of the Singapore Employability Skills System (ESS).

Roles and Functions of CES

·  Co-ordinate and conduct assessments for ESS

·  Manage all external appointed assessment sites

·  Maintain a Resource Centre for the ESS to support training providers

·  Provide on-site workplace literacy and numeracy assessment services for companies and organisations at their premises

Types of Assessment Services

Currently CES provides two types of ESS assessment. They are:

·  Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Assessment

·  Workplace Skills (WPS) Assessment-Only-Pathway (AOP) Assessment

Workplace Literacy and Numeracy

The purpose of the WPLN programme is to improve the proficiency in English literacy and Numeracy of our workforce in a real-life work context. Participants who decide to attend the WPLN training programme will have to take a pre-training assessment to determine their current level of proficiency.  This pre-training WPLN assessment is required so that participants can be placed at a suitable level of training effective learning to take place. Workplace Skills (WPS) Assessment-Only Pathway

The ESS WPS covers a range of specific workplace skills which focus on generic workplace processes and skills. These workplace processes and skills are organized in eight training modules at three occupational levels – Operations, Supervisory and Managerial.

The WPS AOP allows the participant to attain a Statement of Attainment (SOA) directly by attempting a challenge test without going through the training programme. Participants can opt for this valid assessment pathway if they have the relevant work experience and prior learning but were not formally accredited. (Click here for more details)
